Dear NYC Barn Dance Meetup members:

I have several important pieces of information for you:

First, the October event that was announced is postponed until a time to be announced later. I apologize for the inconvenience. The calendar was inadvertently set to automatically schedule an event each month. This feature has been deselected. This error will not recur.

The NYC Barn Dance is currently being restructured. Many possible changes are being considered. For three years the event was held solely at the Hungarian House on the Upper East Side, but we are considering a move to downtown Manhattan, or to the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Greenpoint, Williamsburg, or Park Slope. We are even considering organizing the dance as a "roving" event that could take place in a different venue each month. The main reason for this move is to open the dance up to a larger audience - many people are unwilling to travel uptown during the week - and to attract a wider range of dancers. Additionally, we are also open to rescheduling the event for another night of the week. Again, this is to allow other interested dancers who cannot make the trip to the Upper East Side during the work week to join us.

Please know that we are currently working to resolve all of this as quickly as possible, and you will be notified as soon as this season's events are scheduled. It is my hope that this will occur withing the next two to three weeks.

As our aim is to create a traditional social dance event that is at once fun, attractive, affordable and sustainable, we welcome any thoughts that you may have on the matters above. Any constructive ideas are appreciated.

Yours,

Dave Harvey
